The couple that plays together stays together, as some cross stitch sampler somewhere surely says, so it’s only fitting that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped out together in Düsseldorf, Germany Saturday to close out the Invictus Games.

This is the sixth staging of the Games, an international competition for wounded and sick military personnel and veterans, first founded by Harry (who served in Britain’s military for a decade) in 2014. At Saturday’s closing ceremonies, the couple attended in high fashion: Meghan, 42, wore a green strapless gown, and Harry, 39, went with an all-black, tie-free ensemble.

Prince Harry delivered an emotional speech at the event, which, according to People, he gave in both German and English, in a nod to the host country.

"We've all witnessed the true impact sport has had on your recovery. But you will never truly know the impact your actions this week have had on millions of people around the world," he said.

"You have opened people’s hearts, through your vulnerability, through your resilience, and your sheer abilities. You have shown us that joy can emerge from struggle."

As previously reported and planned, Meghan joined Harry at the Games a few days after the opening. Harry arrived in the UK prior to the Games beginning in Germany, attending to a variety of functions, as well as marking the one-year anniversary of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s death by visiting her burial site.

Harry kicked off the Games solo last Monday, and Meghan joined him at a party for the event Tuesday evening, which a source told Vanity Fair Harry was “over the moon” about. In the days since, they’ve been taking in events including swimming and wheelchair basketball, even doling out medals to some of the winners themselves. It was a throwback to the old days, in some ways: When J. Crew tweeted that Markle was wearing one of their cardigans to the event with a photo, the Duchess’ enviable style led the masses running, crashing the retailer’s website.

Friday also marked Prince Harry’s 39th birthday.

A five-part docu-series, The Heart of Invictus, follows the journey of several of the competitors, and tells the story of the competition. It recently premiered on Netflix.
