Teyana Taylor announced Sunday via Instagram that she and former NBA star Iman Shumpert have been separated “for a while,” with plans to divorce after seven years of marriage.
Despite the photo accompanying the announcement, with the two dressed as Wayne and Garth from Wayne’s World, it would appear that it is not party time, nor is it excellent, though Taylor insisted that there hadn’t been cheating.
“AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie!” she captioned the photo. “In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT."?

She continued, "We just keep y’all asses out the group chat lol, which is the reason we’ve been able to successfully & peacefully separate without all of the outside noise. The only reason I’m even sharing THIS part of the chat is because the narratives are getting a little out of hand & it’s unfair to all parties involved. I hope this provided some clarity for y’all. Okay AunTey taking y’all back out the chat bye!”
Taylor, a model and actor, starred in the 2023 Sundance Film Festival breakout A Thousand and One, and has been in the public eye since she was 15, including as the spotlight subject of an episode of My Super Sweet 16. Oh, and then there’s the time she, as a 15-year-old, choreographed Beyonce’s “Ring the Alarm” music video.
Shumpert, for his part, won the NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, and Dancing with the Stars with Daniella Karagach in 2021.
The former couple welcomed their first child in 2015, married in 2016, co-starred in a Kanye West music video that same year, and then had a second baby in 2020.
